CHICAGO — This June the Harlem Globetrotters are giving Chicago's kids a shot at learning some big league skills.

The world-famous basketball wizards are slated to participate in B.E.S.T. Basketball Chicago — a program created between the sports franchise and the city to "impart fun lessons both on and off the court" to the city's youth — June 6 and 7 at the Quest Multisport Complex, 2641 W. Harrison St.

During the program, Globetrotter stars will be on hand to provide moral support, while coaches and instructors will help participants hone in on basic skills like passing, dribbling and shooting.

In addition to sports skills, mini-Globetrotters will gain other valuable lessons. Character development, "a lot of fun and smiles," and teamwork are also on the camp's docket.

The six-hour class is split up over two, three-hour days and is open to all students in first through eighth grade. If enrolled before May 30, each session costs $70 per child, with a price increase to $85 after the deadline. Parents and spectators are allowed to pay $5 to watch the event.
