CHICAGO — A North Lawndale man died more than a month after being shot in Uptown, authorities said.

Louis Walker, 28, of the 1400 block of South Ridgeway Avenue, died at Illinois Masonic Medical Center Sunday at 6:46 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Walker was hospitalized after an April 7 shooting in the 4700 block of North Broadway.

Police said Walker was sitting in the driver's seat of a car around 2:45 p.m. that day when another car pulled alongside and someone inside opened fire, striking him his chest, arm and leg.

The incident occurred near Uptown Underground, a retro-themed burlesque and cabaret venue at 4707 N. Broadway that hosted what would become the re-election party for Ald. James Cappleman (47th) later in the evening.
