Man Walks to Hospital After Being Shot in Uptown, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man was wounded in a shooting Saturday evening, police said.

Around 5:20 p.m., the man was walking in the 4400 block of North Hazel Street when he heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was shot in his thigh and walked to Weiss Memorial Hospital and was later transferred to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

According to police, the man is a documented gang member.
