WEST LOOP — The team behind Nellcôte and RM Champagne Salon will soon open Expat, a new seasonal sidewalk cafe in the West Loop.

The 24-seat al fresco eatery, that will set up shop just outside RM Champagne Salon at Green and Randolph streets, will open in early May depending on the weather, a representative said Tuesday.

Element Collective partner Chris Dexter said the cafe, which counts Green Street Smoked Meats and Soho House as neighbors, will offer prime real estate for an afternoon drink and people watching come summer.

“The West Loop has no shortage of great restaurants, but we love the idea of offering something a little more casual and lighter — especially during lunch and early afternoon hours,” Dexter said.

Expat's menu will feature fresh selections and raw eats, including a hyper-seasonal assortment of crudos, ceviches, oysters and local fruits and vegetables. The eatery will also feature a limited number of by-the-glass wine options, an extensive rosé list, canned beers and buckets, simple cocktails and snow cones in flavors like rosé and limoncello.

A shot of whiskey with a housemade pickle brine and a shot of tequila with spicy-sweet verdita are also expected to make the cut on the cafe's signature craft shot menu.

The first come, first served spot will open daily at 11:30 a.m. until the end of the season.
