CHICAGO — A 32-year-old man was wounded after being shot on the Near West Side Wednesday, police said.

Around 6:15 p.m., the man was walking in an alley in the 100 block of North Western Avenue when a man walked up and fired shots, striking the 32-year-old twice in his lower back, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago police spokesman.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Gaines said.
