Man Fatally Shot on Far South Side

CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night on the Far South Side.

Around 10:15 p.m., the man was standing in the street in the 10200 block of South May Street when someone opened fire from a dark car, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was shot in the chest and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition before being pronounced dead, Alfaro said.

He was identified as D'Montre Smith, of the same block. He was pronounced dead at 11:13 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
