Mather's More than a Cafe

NORWOOD PARK — A number of classes and activities for seniors are scheduled for May at Mather's More Than a Cafe.

In addition to breakfast, lunch and carryout meals Mather's offers adults older than 50 educational classes, fitness classes, health screenings, consumer seminars, workshops and special events and day trips. The cafe is located at 7134 W. Higgins Ave.

Events scheduled for May include:

• Dinner Theater: Attendees can experience the wit and humor of Noël Coward, the playwright and composer, at a dinner theater scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. May 8 as performed by William Phillips and Co. Songs and short scenes from Coward's plays and musicals will be performed and his life and career discussed. You’ll also hear about his flamboyant and fascinating life and career. The cost for the meal is $11.50 and the suggestion donation for the entertainers is $8.

• Email Basics: Participants will learn how to send, receive, reply to and delete emails, work with attachments and organize your contact list in Gmail during this two-session class from 10 a.m. to noon on May 19 and May 26. The cost is $35, and registration is required. 

• Art Writing Experience: Participants can recharge their creative batteries in a natural setting during hikes, meditation, time around a campfire and a float on a pontoon boat from 2 p.m. May 29 to 11 a.m. May 31 the  Wonderland Conference Center, Camp Lake, Wisconsin. The cost is $199 and includes a hotel room, creative experience sessions, camp activities, and T-shirt. Transportation is not included, but ride-shares may be available.
