4 Wounded in Separate Shootings on South, West Sides, Police Say

CHICAGO —  Four people, including a 16-year-old boy, were wounded in separate shootings on the South and West Side Monday, police said.

Around 7:35 p.m. in South Shore, a 16-year-old boy was shot in his back in the 7300 block of South Blackstone Avenue, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, Lemmon said.

According to police, the teenager was being uncooperative with investigators.

In Austin around 7 p.m., a 23-year-old man walked into West Suburban Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, Lemmon said.

He told police the shooting happened in the 500 block of North Lockwood Avenue, Lemmon said.

Around the same time in Chatham, a 26-year-old woman was shot in her leg in the 7900 block of South Maryland Avenue. She was taken to John H. Stroger in serious condition, Lemmon said.

Around 3:50 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in his arm in a possible drive by near West 70th Street and South Elizabeth Street, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago police spokesman.

The man was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital in good condition, Zala said.
