CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Wednesday evening in Chicago Lawn, police said.

Around 6:20 p.m., the teenager was standing in the 3000 block of West 71st Street when he was shot in the shoulder, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Witnesses saw the 16-year-old run to a backyard and collapse after being shot, Estrada said.

The teenager was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as DuJuane Hall, 16, of the 7200 block of South Whipple Street. According to the Medical Examiner's office Hall was pronounced at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.

No one is in custody, and police are investigating.
