CHICAGO — One man was killed and at least eight others were wounded in shootings since Monday morning.

Monday afternoon, a 24-year-old man was fatally shot while sitting in the passenger seat of a car in the 5700 block of South Morgan Street in Englewood, police said.

In the most recent non-fatal shooting, a 19-year-old man was shot in his leg in Auburn Gresham. Around 8:15 p.m., the man was walking in the 8000 block of South Normal Avenue when someone opened fire from a gray SUV, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The shooter ran off southbound and the man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, Sedevic said.

Around 6:20 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in his right arm and side during an altercation with a group of men in the 7100 block of South Vernon Avenue in Grand Crossing, Sedevic said.

The man took himself to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Sedevic said.

Around 3:40 p.m., a 23-year-old man was grazed in his hand when a group of men yelled gang slogans before opening fire as he drove through the 4200 block of West Belden Avenue in Hermosa, Sedevic said.

The victim was able to drive off and was then driven to St. Mary's Hospital, where he was treated and released, Sedevic said.

Another five people were wounded in shootings Monday including a 65-year-old woman.
