UPTOWN — Since the 46th ward race was declared a runoff, Amy Crawford has raised more than Ald. James Cappleman on the campaign trail, but most of the donations came from the challenger herself, records show.

Since the Feb. 24 election, Crawford has raised $76,500 to Cappleman's $47,800, according to State Board of Elections records.

Crawford's largest donation came from herself; she donated $50,000 to her own campaign March 10, according to state filings. That loan brings the amount Crawford has given to her own campaign to more than $85,000, which makes her by far the biggest contributor to Friends of Amy Crawford.

Most of the remaining donations are from individuals who either work at her law firm, Kirkland & Ellis LLP, or other firms in town. Also of note: Lakeview Property Rentals LLC donated $2,500.

Many of Cappleman's contributions are from individuals like Bryan Pitchard, for example, who donated $2,500 and works for Tricap Residential Group, or Maxwell Kolin, who donated $1,000 and is listed as a developer, according to state filings.

Other donations include $1,000 from Building Owners and Managers Association of Chicago PAC and $1,560 from the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund. Sterling Properties and LR Management Company, LLC both donated $1,000.

Fellow politicians, including Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) and Sen. Gregory Harris (D-Chicago), each made $1,000 contributions, while Chicago Land Operators Joint Labor-Management PAC donated $5,000.

In addition to the money Cappleman has raised, Chicago Forward, the PAC widely considered to be aligned with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, spent $9,025 in support of Cappleman on March 19, according to state filings.

When DNAinfo Chicago looked at which incumbent aldermen on the City Council received the most money from Chicago Forward in the lead-up to the Feb. 24 election, Cappleman ranked second out of 21 sitting aldermen.

Since Crawford announced her candidacy last year Oct. 15, she has raised $248,094.77 and Cappleman has raised $197,193.00, state filings show. But when Crawford filed, the incumbent alderman already had more than $100,000 in his campaign fund, according to state records.

The runoff election is April 7.
