PORTAGE PARK — A spring craft cocktail series designed to showcase prominent mixologists from Chicago area bars and restaurants will take place at Community Tavern in the Six Corners Shopping District, officials said.

At each event, a guest mixologist will collaborate with Community Tavern Beverage Director Jose Cordon on a specialty cocktail that will be featured on the tavern's menu throughout the month.

"We're honored to cross promote with pioneers in the Chicago restaurant industry," Cordon said. "Our goal is to partner with these key players and garner interest in the blossoming craft cocktail community."

Community, a gastropub from Quay Tao, the owner and chef of The Portage restaurant, opened at 4038 N. Milwaukee Ave. in February, the sixth restaurant to open in the last year at Six Corners.

The first event in the series, set for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, will feature Daniel J. Rook, beverage director at South Water Kitchen in the Loop.

Rook will be serving up the Smoke N' Stone, a smoky combination of his and Cordon's unique tastes. The drink features Rittenhouse Rye, Vida Mezcal, Giffard Apricot, Luxardo Amaretto, Black Walnut Bitters and lime.

Beverage Professional Danielle Pizzutillo is on tap for May 6 and Jacyara de Oliveira, the bar manager at Sportsman's Club will close out the initial series on June 3, officials said.
