Whole Foods took over the former Dominick's at 6009 N. Broadway and now appears to be ahead of schedule. A top company official said last summer he expected to open in June.
The high-end grocer's website says the new store's decor would be "inspired by early 1900s Chicago."
The store will also feature a wood-fired grill, store-made naan bread, pasta with specialty cheeses and a beer and wine bar, according to the website.
