Woman Fatally Shot in East Side Saturday Identified

CHICAGO — Authorities identified a woman who died after being shot in the head In East Side Saturday.

At 7:20 p.m., a 23-year-old woman was sitting in the passenger seat in the corner of East 109th Street and South Green Bay Avenue when someone behind the vehicle opened fire, striking the woman in her head, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police officer.

The driver took the woman to Trinity Hospital. She was later transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center and listed in critical condition, Estrada said.

Delia Colunga, of the 600 block of East 65th Street, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center Sunday at 9:53 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said Colunga died from a gunshot wound to the head. The 23-year-old's death was ruled a homicide.
