CHICAGO — About 150 firefighters battled an extra-alarm fire at an Archer Heights fire extinguisher production plant Thursday night.

By 9:30 p.m. Thursday, the one-story commercial building at 3800 West 38th Street was engulfed in flames, said Chief Joe Roccasalva, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

Flames lit up the night sky, and the glow could be seen around the neighborhood as the blaze raged on for hours.

More than one tenant occupied the building — including a company that manufactures fire extinguishers, Roccasalva said.

The fire was contained to the building, and put out before midnight, with no injuries reported, Roccasalva added.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
