THE LOOP — Home cooks itching to win over an audience beyond their kin with their special baked mostaccioli or banana pancakes will get the chance Saturday.

An open casting call for season two of NBC's "Food Fighters" runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at III Forks, 180 N. Field Blvd.

The casting call is open to anyone ages 9 and older — that is, anyone with a signature recipe and the chutzpah to take on food television's most popular chefs.

The show, hosted by the sometimes controversial Adam Richman, pits home cooks against such chefs as Cat Cora and Duff Goldman in a timed cook-off to see whose interpretation of the regular Joe's recipe wins over judges.

Those auditioning should fill out the online application and bring with them a signature dish — "a dish that says something about you," the casting call said — plus the necessary utensils and plates for serving the food to the show's tasters.

"Please make sure that all dishes are prepared and transported in a sanitary environment. All meat dishes must be properly cooked [any raw or unsanitary dishes will not be served]," the instructions read.

Production for the new season of "Food Fighters" begins in April and runs through September.
