MORGAN PARK — Smith Village will host a free support group for caregivers, families and friends of people with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the retirement community at 2320 W. 113th Place in Morgan Park. Light refreshments will be served.

Smith Village’s memory support coordinator Diane Morgan will lead a discussion called “Positive Techniques for Successful Communication.” Her one-hour presentation will offer tips for interacting with those who suffer from cognitive loss.

“Once someone begins developing cognitive loss, given the right support they are still capable of brief meaningful conversations,” Morgan said.

To reserve a seat or ask questions about the group, call 773-474-7300 or email familyandfriends@smithvillage.org
