CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were found fatally shot in an apparent murder-suicide in Woodlawn Sunday night, a police source said.

Around 6:33 p.m., police arrived at the home in the 6500 block of South Kimbark Avenue, forcing their way into the home when no one responded, a police source said.

When officers entered the home they found the woman shot multiple times and a 23-year-old man who had been shot through his mouth, the police source said.

The woman was identified as Linda Soto, 25, of Berwyn. She was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The man, who lived in the home, was identified as Steven Griffin. He was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police discovered the two fatally shot while conducting a well-being check requested by Griffin's father Sunday.

Griffin's father told police his son was upset when he last spoke to him on Saturday because he found out Soto was still in a relationship with the father of her child, the source said.

Soto's child was found with his father, who also lives in Berwyn.
