3 Teens, 2 Men Shot Thursday

CHICAGO — Five separate daytime shootings left three boys and two men hospitalized Thursday.

Around 4:08 p.m. in the 1100 block of East 72nd Street in Grand Crossing, a 16-year-old boy was shot in his leg, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The teen was taken to Northwestern Hospital, where his condition stabilized Sweeney said.

Around 3:35 p.m., a boy was shot in his shoulder while walking the 300 block of East 49th Street in Grand Boulevard, Sweeney said.

The boy, whose age was unavailable, was listed in good condition at Comer Children's Hospital, Sweeney said.

About 20 minutes earlier, a 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times in his buttocks on the Far South Side.

The boy had been walking in the 13100 block of South Langley Avenue around 3:19 p.m. when he was shot. He drove himself to Roseland Hospital and his condition was unavailable, Sweeney said.

Around 12:15 p.m., a 25-year-old man accidentally shot himself in his leg in the 6200 block of West Grace Street in Portage Park. Further information was not available, Sweeney said.

And about 9:15 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in his shoulder and abdomen while in a store in the 1200 block of  West 69th Street in Englewood, Sweeney said.

The man was taken to Christ Hospital in serious condition. Details about the shooting were scarce, as the man was uncooperative with police, Sweeney said.

No one is in custody in any of the shootings.
