CHICAGO — Police are warning residents around Austin to make sure their doors and windows are locked after a rash of burglaries in the neighborhood in February.
During the burglaries, the thief kicks or forces his way into the rear of an apartment before stealing items.
The incidents occurred:
• Around 10:40 a.m. Feb. 2 in the 5200 block of West Congress Parkway.
• Between 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Feb. 24, in the 100 block of South Leamington Avenue.
• Between 8:30-10:30 a.m. Feb. 24, in the 4900 block of West Washington Boulevard.
• Between Feb. 22-25 in the 100 block of South Leamington Avenue.
In one incident, the burglar is described as a black man about 5-foot-7-inches tall and weighing 160 lbs.
