GOLD COAST — Do you like green eggs and ham? In a bar, or in your car?

Hash House A Go Go, 1212 N. State Parkway, will serve the storied dish for Dr. Seuss fans of all ages throughout the legendary author/illustrator's birthday on Monday.

The eggs will be scrambled and served with ham, potatoes, and a biscuit for $9.99. A children's portion will also be available for $5.95.

The Gold Coast brunch place's promotion is one of several local events celebrating the life of the late Dr. Seuss, who would have turned 101 years old next month.

The Art of Dr. Seuss gallery at Water Tower Place, 835 N. Michigan Ave., will host a belated Dr. Seuss "birthday party" from 1-4 p.m. March 15. The "Cat in the Hat" will make an appearance, and guests will be able to play Seuss-themed games and enter a raffle.

Open Books, 213 W. Institute Place, will host a Dr. Seuss day from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 28. Kids can color and enjoy cake while all children's book prices are slashed by 20 percent. There will also be "interactive story time" with the Junior League of Chicago's Mad Hatters, and "Seussical crafting" with The Wishcraft Workshop.

Born in 1904, Theodor Seuss Geisel drew political cartoons and advertisements before diving into children's books, some of which remain among the best-selling children's books of today. A Dr. Seuss manuscript for a newly-discovered book, "What Pet Should I Get," will be published in July.
