
LINCOLN SQUARE — Punk poet Patti Smith has announced two shows at Old Town School of Folk Music in April. Tickets go on sale Friday.
Smith, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, will play Old Town School April 2-3. For the concerts, themed "Spring Awakening (A Celebration of Poetry & Song)," Smith will be joined by her children Jackson and Jesse Smith, as well as longtime bandmate Tony Shanahan.
Tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. Friday and can be purchased online at www.oldtownschool.org or via phone at 773-728-6000. Cost is $75 for the general public or $73 for Old Town School members.
The concerts will be held in Maurer Hall, 4544 N. Lincoln Ave.
Smith's most recent album, Banga, was released in 2012. Her memoir "Just Kids" won the 2010 National Book Award for nonfiction.
