Man Busted With 23 Pounds of Pot After Traffic Stop, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 39-year-old South Deering man is facing drug charges after police found 23 pounds of marijuana in his SUV after he was stopped for a minor traffic violation, police said.

Alexander Brown, of the 9500 block of South Paxton, was driving in the 1000 block of West Marquette Road in Englewood about 7:45 p.m. Friday when officers stopped him for a minor traffic offense, police said.

As the officers approached Brown's SUV they saw a large plastic bag full of pot sticking out of a black book back in the back seat, police said. They later found another bag full of pot in the SUV after arresting Brown, police said.

The drugs had a total estimated street value of $64,000, police said.
