GOLD COAST — Actor Vince Vaughn is trying harder than ever to ditch Chicago, cutting the price on his 12,000-square-foot Gold Coast penthouse by $1 million.

The Lake Forest native re-listed his three-floor condominium atop the Palmolive Building, 159 E. Walton Place, on Sunday for $13.9 million, down from the $14.9 million price he was quietly asking for more than a year.

For the first time, Vaughn's listing includes interior photos of the condo, which features panoramic views and spacious wood-paneled rooms, including an office that belonged to Hugh Hefner when Playboy Enterprises occupied the Art Deco tower off Michigan Avenue.

Cook County property records show Vaughn paid $12 million in 2006 for the five-bedroom condo. He reportedly asked $24.7 million for it off-the-market before publicly listing it for $18.4 million in 2012.

Vaughn's listing agent, Katherine Malkin of Baird & Warner, said her client is "not desperate in any way," to sell the condo.

"The apartment looks lovely and I hope it finds a really wonderful person," Malkin said.

Vaughn also owns a town home in River North.
