CHICAGO — At least five people were wounded by gunfire across Chicago's South and West sides last night, police said.

Most recently, at 11:50 p.m. in the 8900 block of South Ada Street, a 31-year-old man was shot in the leg during an altercation playing a dice game, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Police did not know his condition, but said it had stabilized.

In Hegewisch, about 10:30 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot twice, police said. The man was a passenger in a vehicle traveling in the 13400 block of South Calumet River Road when someone exited a light-colored SUV nearby. The victim tried to flee the vehicle when he was shot in each foot, Pacheco said. He was taken to Roseland Hospital. Police did not know his condition, but said it had stabilized.

At 8:05 p.m. in the 600 block of South Homan Avenue, a 23-year-old man was walking when he was confronted by two males, one armed with a handgun, Pacheco said. The males announced a robbery and took the victim’s cellphone. During a struggle, the gun fired, striking the victim in the ankle, Pacheco said.

The victim, who police said is a documented gang member, was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where is listed in good condition.

Earlier in the evening, at 6:45 p.m. in the 5000 block of South Wood Street, a 22-year-old man was walking when someone fired shots from a gangway, striking him in the leg, Pacheco said. The victim, who police said is a documented gang member, was taken to Stroger Hospital. Police did not know his condition, but said it had stabilized.
