LINCOLN SQUARE — Fans of Bad Dog Tavern have until midnight Sunday to bid farewell to the Lincoln Square bar and grill, which announced on Tuesday that it will be closing at the end of the week.

Management shared the news on Facebook: "After 7 amazing years in Lincoln Square, we are closing Bad Dog Tavern. It has been a fantastic run and we have enjoyed every second of it."

Craft beer drafts and Absolut drinks will be $3 for the remainder of the week, as Bad Dog, 4535 N. Lincoln Ave., counts down to Sunday.

Patty Wetli says owners plan to open a new bar in March:

Responding to comments of "Noooo!" and "So sad!" from customers, Bad Dog reassured loyal patrons that the same owners would be reopening in mid-March with a new concept in the same location.

The new place will also continue the tradition of broadcasting University of Tennessee sports, management posted.

Bad Dog did not immediately respond to a request for additional detail from DNAinfo Chicago.

With its 100-seat patio, Bad Dog was a perennial neighborhood favorite for outdoor dining and, as its name would suggest, was particularly dog-friendly.

Bad Dog's owners also operate Riverview Tavern in Roscoe Village, Merkle's in Wrigleyville and Nobel House in Geneva, Ill.
