LINCOLN SQUARE — Mother Nature, who's been pretty tame so far in 2015, reminded Chicago who's boss on Sunday, dumping more than a foot of snow on the city.

Armed with snow blowers and shovels, Lincoln Square residents — including some pint-sized community members — dug out cars and cleared sidewalks of a wet, heavy powder some compared to slush.

Though the blizzard created its share of headaches, particularly for drivers navigating unplowed side streets, there was a silver lining to be found.

Cross-country skiers could be seen gliding through River Park, and a handful of hardy families enjoyed some impromptu sledding.

And for sheer beauty, well it was tough to top what looked like meringue-coated trees.
