COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Internet prankster VonMar is asking fans to visit him in jail after prosecutors upgraded charges in his New Year's Day ransacking case.

The 24-year-old, born Delvon Lamar Irving, was arrested Jan. 7 after he filmed himself trashing a Gold Coast 7-Eleven at 45 E. Chicago Ave. on Jan. 1. In the video, which has more than 5 million views, VonMar and a pal taunt store clerks, jump on merchandise and run off with a coffee urn.

Police said it wasn't hard to catch up with VonMar — since he frequently filmed himself — and the Alsip resident was charged with felony theft and misdemeanor damage to property.

But during a court appearance Wednesday, VonMar stood before a Cook County judge on charges of felony theft and felony burglary. The misdemeanor count is no longer attached to the case.

VonMar took to Instagram this week to share his mailing address and visiting hours at jail with a request to "write letters and go visit."

After his initial arrest, VonMar tried to raise money toward his $250,000 bail on the crowdfunding site GoFundMe. The campaign was quickly shut down because it didn't meet the site's guidelines.

VonMar is slated to appear in court again on Wednesday. A trial date has not been set.
