CHICAGO — The South Side's first Forever Yogurt is coming to Bronzeville.

The self-service frozen yogurt shop is set to open at the end of February or early March at 17 W. 35th St., said franchise owner Bill Coney.

The store would be located between the CTA's Green line station to the east and Red Line station to the west.

Coney, a 36-year-old Alsip resident who grew up in Englewood, said he scouted locations across the city for his shop before realizing the building between U.S. Cellular Field, Illinois Institute of Technology and the Chicago Police Department's headquarters "was the space for me."

"I was looking for a location on the North Side, but there was already a ton of yogurt shops up there," Coney said. "Bringing something like this to the neighborhood, this community, is huge."

As with other locations in the frozen yogurt chain, the Bronzeville store will have art that reflects the neighborhood and its landmarks, Coney said.

"This isn't a typical yogurt shop," Coney said. "It's going to have a touch of Bronzeville."
