Bronzeville Shooting Victim Dies Hours Later

CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man died Tuesday night hours after being shot in Bronzeville.

Angelo Porter, 23, was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 9 p.m. Tuesday. His address is unknown, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Around 1:37 p.m., Porter was walking eastbound in the 600 block of East 51st Street when a man approached him from behind and shot him once in his head, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Porter was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition before he was pronounced dead.

Police said Porter was a documented gang member.

He was one of three people shot Tuesday.
