Three Wounded in Shootings Overnight Citywide

CHICAGO — Three people were wounded in shootings overnight including a 56-year-old man who shot himself in South Chicago early Wednesday.

Around 3:25 a.m., the 56-year-old man walked into South Shore Hospital after shooting himself in the knee, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man told police he shot himself while in the 7900 block of South Crandon Avenue in South Chicago. His condition stabilized early Wednesday, Pacheco said.

Around 5:25 p.m., a 59-year-old woman was shot while walking in the 8900 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in Burnside, Pacheco said.

The woman was listed in good condition at Jackson Park Hospital after being shot in her right ankle, Pacheco said.

Around 5:07 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot while walking in the 1900 block of South Pulaski Road in Lawndale, Pacheco said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition after being shot in his torso. The shooting appears to be gang related, Pacheco said.
