CHICAGO— Two men were shot, one fatally, in West Garfield Park Friday night, police said.

At 10:40 p.m., the two men, 31 and 35, were standing in the 0-100 block of South Kostner Avenue when they heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

The 31-year-old man was shot in the left calf and right ankle. He was taken to Rush University Medical Center by an acquaintance and listed in "stable" condition. The 35-year-old man was shot in the lower left abdomen. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, and then later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

The shooting victim was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Michael Harrison, of the 2700 block of West Jackson Boulevard. An autopsy determined he died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and classified his death as a homicide.

No one is in custody, and Area North detectives are investigating.
