EDGEWATER — Additional patrols were added to the area of a shooting earlier this week that injured two, Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) said in an email to constituents Friday.

On Monday night, a 29-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were sitting in a car in the 5900 block of North Kenmore Avenue when someone opened fire into the car, police said.

Both survived the shooting and were treated at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, police said.

"The Chicago Police Department is currently investigating the incident and reviewing evidence," Osterman said. "CPD has assigned additional patrols to this area in the wake of this shooting."

Osterman did not provide any other details about the incident but said an earlier incident on the same block was believed to be drug related.

In October, witnesses dove for cover on the block when a gunman opened fire at a passing vehicle, injuring one person.
