At Least Three Wounded in Shootings Thursday

CHICAGO — At least three people were wounded in shootings Thursday, police said.

Most recently, a 27-year-old man was shot in the 8200 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Ashburn, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago police spokesman.

Around 5:05 p.m., the man was in a car when another car pulled up alongside and someone from inside opened fire, Zala said.

The victim is in good condition, and refused medical attention, he added.

Around 4:25 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the 5500 block of South Christiana Avenue in Gage Park, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman.

He is in good condition after being transported to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound in his leg, Sweeney said.

Earlier, at 12:04 p.m., a man was shot in West Englewood.

The 22-year-old was standing outside with another person in the 6800 block of South Damen Avenue when a car drove up and someone from inside fired shots, hitting him in his leg, Sweeney said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, he said. His condition is unknown.

Police said the victim is a documented gang member.
