WICKER PARK — Police have issued a warning to cabbies after two taxi drivers were the victims of robbery on the Northwest Side.

The same suspect robbed drivers in Wicker Park Dec. 19 and Dec. 22 at the 1600 Block of North Paulina Street and the 1300 Block of North Bosworth Avenue, police said.

According to an alert issued for the Shakespeare Police District, the man is picked up at an intersection in the neighborhood and asks the driver to take him to a location to pick up his child. The man returns with a package, before going to a second location, and proceeds to rob the taxi driver, according to police.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 30 and 40 years old, 6'0" to 6'4 tall, weighing between 260 and 280 lbs., with tattoos on his face and wearing all black clothing.

Police are urging residents and taxi drivers to report men fitting this description who have waved down a taxi cab. Area North detectives can be reached at 312-745-6110.
