LINCOLN SQUARE — Lincoln Square residents looking for a fro-yo fix will be left out in the cold until at least mid-February.

Yogurt Square, 4701 N. Lincoln Ave., announced it will be closed for the next six weeks for "store updates," according to signs taped to the shop's windows.

"Sorry for the inconvenience," the notice added.

Yogurt Square similarly shuttered for remodeling in 2013, and took January off in 2014.

A number of ice cream shops around the city hibernate over the coldest winter months, including Scooter's Frozen Custard and Black Dog Gelato.

Scooter's owners Mardi and Denny Moore said in a previous interview they originally intended to keep the custard shop open year-round but discovered sales dipped dramatically with the temperatures.

Meanwhile, Margie's Candies Montrose outpost had the opposite experience, finding that ice cream holds all-weather appeal, even during last year's Polar Vortex.

"It's still comfort food," a Margie's employee told DNAinfo during 2014's deep freeze.
