Garfield Park Shootings Leave Four Wounded

CHICAGO — Four people were wounded overnight in three separate shootings in Garfield Park.

The most recent shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 4700 block of West Van Buren Street, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A 29-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when someone approached and shot him in the  buttocks, Sedevic said.

The man was taken to Loretto Hospital by family and was listed in stable condition, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.

Around 7:15 p.m., two men were shot while walking in the first block of South Kostner Avenue, Sedevic said.

A 20-year-old man was listed in stable condition at Mount Sinai after being shot in the right hip and a 30-year-old man was taken in stable condition to Stroger Hospital after being shot in the  back, Sedevic said.

Around 4:45 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot while sitting in the front passenger seat of a minivan in the 200 block of South Karlov Avenue when someone opened fire from a dark-colored SUV, Sedevic said.

The man was listed in stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital after being shot in the right cheek, Sedevic said.
