At 5 p.m., a 26-year-old man was in the 10400 block of South State Street when a vehicle approached and someone inside fired multiple shots, said Officer Bob Kane, a Chicago police spokesman.

The man was shot in his chest and side and was pronounced dead on the scene, Kane said.
