Police to Crack Down on Drunken Drivers on Far North, South Sides

CHICAGO — Officers will be on the lookout for drunken drivers this weekend in the Rogers Park and South Chicago police districts.

In the Rogers Park district, police will be conducting a "DUI Strike Force Patrol," assigning roving officers to watch out for drunken drivers, speeders and other traffic violators. The effort will frun from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday.

On the South Side, police will conduct a DUI checkpoint at 9100 S. Stony Island Ave. in Calumet Heights from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.

A DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Shakespeare District on the North Side this past weekend led to 40 tickets, though no arrests for DUI, police said.
