CHICAGO — Demonstrators gathered in Chicago in support of protesters in Ferguson, Mo., Monday night, with a group of several hundred people marching down — and shutting down — Lake Shore Drive.

The group started at Chicago Police headquarters at 35th Street and Michigan Avenue late Monday and headed north to the Loop, where the crowd rallied and eventually dispersed before midnight.

There were no arrests in Chicago during the demonstrations, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The group was rallying in reaction to the announcement that a Missouri grand jury declined to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. The decision touched off looting and rioting in Ferguson, and protest rallies around the country.

In Chicago, there are no plans or preparation for heightened police security in response to the Ferguson grand jury's decision, Gaines said.

Continued protests are planned for Tuesday morning, with a rally set for the South Loop.
