BRIDGEPORT — It's a three-way race in the 11th Ward as union activist and retired court reporter John Tominello has ended his campaign.

"I was not able to raise what I was told would be sufficient funds to carry on so I just let it go. I learned my lessons. It was my first time. I plan on being back sometime at some point, somewhere," Tominello said.

Monday marked the deadline for candidates to file nominating petitions to the city's election board.

Still in the running are Maureen Sullivan, John Kozlar and Patrick Daley Thompson.

Tominello won't throw his support behind any of them.

"I'm not ready to back any of them. None of them are speaking my language to be honest with you," he said.

The newly expanded 11th Ward encompasses all of Bridgeport and stretches into portions of Pilsen and University Village. The aldermanic elections take place Feb. 24, 2015.
