CHICAGO — The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather warning after rain turned into snow early Monday.
Several inches are expected to accumulate around the Chicago area, accompanied by strong winds, the warning stated.
Chicago won't get close to the worst of the weather, said Amy Seeley, a spokeswoman for the National Weather Service, adding that a few inches of snow is possible near O'Hare Monday afternoon.
Seeley said most of the snow in Chicago should accumulate before 3 p.m. Monday, though there's also a 40 percent chance of snow falling just before midnight.
Monday temperatures were expected to rise as high as 47 degrees, but fall as the snow falls. Temperatures could fall as low as 25 degrees Monday night, according to the weather service said.
More snow is expected Wednesday afternoon, according to the weather service.
