CHICAGO — Police have charged a 25-year-old East Hyde Park man after he allegedly shot another man in the face in an apartment Friday night.

David Kennedy, of the 8100 block of South Wood Street, was found unresponsive in an apartment in the 5200 block of South Cornell Avenue about 9:05 p.m., according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

He was pronounced dead on the scene, Estrada said.

Police are conducting a homicide investigation, Estrada said, adding that there were other people in the room with him when he was shot. But the shooting may have been accidental, Estrada said, citing preliminary information.

On Saturday, police charged Paris D. Walker-Rush with involuntary manslaughter after he allegedly shot Kennedy in the face. Police said Walker-Rush was arrested without incident on the scene. He was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

He is due in court Saturday.
