Five Children, Two Adults Hospitalized After Crash

CHICAGO — Five children were among seven people injured when a minivan crashed into a tree in Jackson Park around Midnight.

Around midnight, the 2001 Mercury minivan was traveling westbound on Marquette Drive when it hit a tree near South Richards Drive, said Officer Jose Estrada.

Three children were taken to Comer Children's Hospital, two children were taken to Lurie Children's Hospital and two adults were taken to Northwestern Hospital. They all suffered non-life threatening injuries, Estrada said.

According to the Chicago Fire Department, though, all of victims were in critical condition.

Further information about the victims was not available.
