FOREST GLEN — Four Northwest Side businesses have been burglarized in recent weeks by criminals who pried open doors and smashed windows, police warned.

In each incident, a rear or side door was pried open or the front window was smashed, police said. Once inside, the thieves disabled the store's phone and alarm system, police said.

The incidents happened in the:

• 4800 block of West Foster Avenue at 10 a.m. Oct. 18
• 5200 block of West Belmont Avenue at 8 a.m. Oct. 31
• 3200 block of North Harlem Avenue at 5:45 a.m. Nov. 9
• 3800 block of North Belmont Avenue at 3:34 a.m. Nov. 9

Police urged business owners to make sure their doors and windows are locked and to report suspicious people in the area immediately.

After an incident, business owners should strive to provide police with a detailed description of the thieves as well as any information about his or her vehicle, license plate information as well as which way they went, police said.

Anyone with information can call detectives at 312-747-8263.
