Ravenswood Armed Robberies Prompt Warning from Police

RAVENSWOOD — The Chicago Police Department issued a warning to Ravenswood residents after two armed robberies Friday.

In both cases, three armed men approached victims on the street and took their cellphones and laptops, police said.

The first robbery was at 7 p.m., in the 4600 block of North Paulina Street; the second robbery was at 8:45 p.m. in the 4700 block of North Washtenaw Avenue, police said.

The robbers are described as 18- to 25-year-old black men, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall. One was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt; the other two wore black hooded sweatshirts. One of the three men wore a red skullcap and a cornrow hairstyle and was armed with a blue steel handgun.

Police are urging residents to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity.
