Man Stabbed to Death on the Near North Side

CHICAGO — A man who died after being stabbed multiples times on the Near North Side early Sunday morning has been identified as an Englewood resident.

At 2:23 a.m., police responded to a call of a man down in the 800 block of North Orleans Street. The man was found with multiple stab wounds to his back, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

The man was identified as Willis Jefferson, 29, of the 7400 block of South May Street in Englewood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
