CHICAGO — Three people were shot overnight, including two in Lawndale early Friday and another man in Gresham late Thursday, police said.

Around 12:25 a.m., a man, 28, and a woman, 25, were driving in the 600 block of Independence Boulevard when someone in a dark van drove alongside them and fired into their car, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The two drove to 16th Street and South Drake Avenue and told police what happened. Both people were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, Pacheco said.

The man, who police said has gang ties, was shot in his back and buttocks. The woman was shot in her leg. No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said.

About 1½ hours earlier, a 24-year-old man with gang ties was shot in Gresham, Pacheco said.

Around 11 p.m., the man was walking in the 8700 block of South Laflin Street when someone walked up to him and began firing, striking him in his foot. He was listed in stable condition at Little Company of Mary Hospital and no one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said.
