Man, 30, Shot to Death in West Garfield Park

CHICAGO — A man was shot and killed in West Garfield Park Wednesday evening.

Around 5:05 p.m., a 30-year-old man was outside in the 100 block of South Pulaski Road when someone opened fire, striking him in his chest and his back, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was initially taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said.

The man was identified as Gregory McKinney of the 4000 block of West Wilcox Street. He was pronounced dead at 5:43 p.m. Wednesday according the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. According to the autopsy, McKinney died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Medical Examiner's Office said McKinney was 25.

Police said the man was a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
