CHICAGO — Police are warning Austin business owners of burglaries from above.

Twice in October, thieves have cut holes in a retail store rooftop, disabled alarm systems, lowered themselves into the store and then made off with stolen goods, officials said.

The robberies occurred about 4 a.m. Oct. 20 in the 700 block of North Cicero Avenue and about 3 a.m. Oct. 17 in the 300 block of North Central Avenue, according to a community alert.

No descriptions of the offenders were available. Police ask anyone with information to call 312-744-8263.

In August, a burglar caused thousands of dollars in damage when he cut through the roof of a Lakeview restaurant, and it was all caught on tape.
